John Ashurst, Jr. passed away in 2025 at the age of 92. John, was one of our long time Caduceus Club supporters. He also served as a Board member and was a past Treasurer.
We really appreciated John’s support! He will be truly missed.
Carey Phillips Travel Fellowship
In 2025, we awarded 2 MS3 and MS4 students a total of $2,800 in funds to travel abroad and within the US. Students traveled to Narok, Kenya and Cambridge, England.
In an effort to rebuild our Travel Fellowship fund and to increase membership, our current project has been reaching out to former Travel Fellowship recipients.
Since it’s creation in 1968, we have given over $400,000 and helped send hundreds of students all over the world.

Medical Student Enrichment Program
We made our annual donation to the UAB International Medical Education Program which expands globally focused training and helps younger medical students travel to underserved populations. See attached 2024-2025 report
Argus Awards 2025
This years award ceremony was held November 14, 2025 at the UAB Alumni House.
The Caduceus Club presents 2 awards each year for the “Best Clinical Educator” and for the “Best Clinical Department.”
