News for 2022 and 2023

The Caduceus Club was able to award Carey Phillips Travel Fellowships this year. We are always impressed with the intellectual caliber and ambition of our recipients.

This year was no exception! Our recipients presented research at conferences, completed educational away rotations, and provided medical services on mission trips. This group won the following Campus Departmental Awards: Dean’s Award, Veterans Affairs Service Award, Leadership Award.

One student won the Selected Professions Fellowship from American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Another student won a scholarship from Alabama Academy of Radiology. Another was awarded a grant to present at Student National Medical Association’s Annual Medical Education. Conference.

We look forward to watching all of them excel in their careers.

We held our annual Caduceus Club dinner in April at the UAB Alumni House in Birmingham. We are hopeful to see our members in person in 2024!

Carey Phillips Travel Fellowship

In 2023, we awarded 10 MS3 and MS4 students a total of $12,000 in funds to travel abroad and within the US. Students traveled to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Uganda, and Washington DC, and Hawaii, just to name a few.

In an effort to rebuild our Travel Fellowship fund and to increase membership, our current project has been reaching out to former Travel Fellowship recipients.

Since it’s creation in 1968, we have given over $400,000 and helped send hundreds of students all over the world.

We made our annual donation to MSEP, which provides younger medical students scholarships, enabling them to engage in valuable service and training experiences across the globe.
